I've been a mild SAD sufferer for a few years and I now work from home.
The period between 3 and 5.30 PM is pretty lousy. I've got a regular desk-lamp and that's it, so I'm not doing myself any favours.
I need a product that I can use for treatment but I'd also like to be able to iluminate the room as it gets dark.
I figured the desk lamp was the ideal product but helpline recommended the Brightspark, to be used in the mornings.
I can't help thinking that the end of the day would still be a struggle whereas the desk lamp on a lower setting would simulate at least a little daylight.
Can anyone pass on any relevant experience with either product.
Hi jim,I use the Brightspark first thing in the morning and find that it helps to give me a little more energy. I have tried using it in the evening but found it gave me too much energy and stopped me from sleeping.
The Desklamp is ideal for while you're working but not so good if you want general bright light as well.
I don't have SAD but I keep a Brightspark on my desk to switch on if I'm fading in the afternoons (don't tell Lumie!). Usually around 3pm as well and then I leave it on until I go home. Perks me up really quickly and stops me nodding off on the drive home!
So although we generally recommend people try a morning session, if it suits you better, you can certainly use them in the afternoon. Some customers leave them on most of the day at work. Within about 3 hours of bedtime is best avoided though or, like paul says, they can keep you awake.
