I've decided to start using a dawn simulator. I want one which let's me plug in my own lamp, and which supports at least 300W. Of the products which meet those requirements, I have my eye on the Sunbox Dawn Simulator (aka SunUp / SunRizr).

Does anyone use that product? If so, I have a specific question which I haven't found answered anywhere: The lamp goes on when the "dawn" settings tell it to, but when does it go off? Does it stay on until the "dusk" settings tell it to, or does it go off after a fixed amount of time?

I thought mine was this model, but it isn't, it's a Sunrise System UK Model SRS100UK.

PurpleIvy,

Thanks for checking. I get the impression that the same products are sold under many different names, so maybe yours is the one I'm thinking of, and maybe not.

In any case, how does yours work? After the lamp goes on, I assume you can turn it off manually; but if you don't, when does it go off? Does it stay on until the dusk settings kick in, or does it go off automatically after a certain number of minutes?

I know the answer to this question probably isn't important if I use the dawn simulator in the traditional way. However, given the location where I plan to install it, I will be unable to turn it off manually, and I'm trying to figure out if that is a problem before I actually buy the unit (i.e. will it turn off too soon; will it stay on too long and waste electricity; etc.).
