Planning to go to look at portable SAD lamps tomorrow, also sunrise clocks.
I have found three models of lamp and don't see much difference between them other than looks. I don't feel the need for cordless/battery op. The models found are GOLITE P1, LITEBOOK & LITEBOOK ELITE.
If anyone has any experience of any of the above I would love to hear about it.
Hi purplecrab ... is it that you have to have a portable lightbox? Do you have a standard sized one to use on a daily basis? As, to be honest, all I have read about lightboxes, well "Size Matters"!
If 'portable' is the criteria, have you thought about a light visor? This is very much more than portable, and as the light is in such close proximity to the eyes it really does work well. I have one for when I cannot use my Satellite full size lightbox, rushing round the house, or when on holiday (chance at the mo' would be a fine thing however!).
I don't think the visor would be the thing for me. Not too good with stuff on my head really. I feel that a compact one for when I'm away would be good option, I did take my bright spark away with me a few times, abroad even, but it does take a lot of room in the suitcase, bit vulnerable with the plastic panel. THe other think is that I could take it into work and top up during break times if I'm unable to get full whack before leaving for work. I'm thinkingthat the bulbs on the portable are a little more directional, in which case I may even me able to use it during classes
Went to the shop in Southport and very patient lady got everything out for me to look at. The decision made itself really. I got the GOlite which is a blue colour light. THe other two were white and I found them very glary. This one also has shorter treatment time.
Also got sunrise system dawn simulator, so will experiment with that tonight and tomorrow. DH home on Saturday so will be good to have a go before he gets back.
