hi
i am starting to believe like many of you out there that doctors are overworked and have no time for 'lazy' youngsters. i do not know if i have SAD because i havent been able to chat to someone who has it or has used a light box. my dad has MS and has simular treatment but because im at uni its too far to travel home frequently.
what id like to know the most is how quickly you feel low/lethargic etc? can you feel ok one day then dreadful the next. im in wales at the moment and some days i feel ok then if i wake up and its raining i always end up having a really bad day!
maybe its just me? i dont know. but i think the next stage is to try a light box. any suggestions on which one to go for( preferably not too expensive!!)?
thanx

I can feel lethargic very quickly if the weather is overcast and dull. I believe I need some strong sunlight to get me out of bed and it sets the tone for the day. I feel a bit lethargic now with the rainy weather whereas the early bright spring picked me up. In winter after a few months of going downhill towards shorter days and darker weather it feels different and depression almost always sets in. The lighbox I would definitely recommend is the satellite, it's more of a lamp really and ideal if you are studying. It is expensive but I have bought other lightboxes that I have not been impressed with and they cost nearly as much. Ironically it's from outside in, I have not tried any of their other products. How are you in the middle of winter? Is there a really marked change that indicates to you that you have sad? "Winter blues" by Norman Rosenthal is a recommended read and S.A.D.A are a useful organisation to contact.
good luck!
